2019 Bharat Ratna awardee Chandikadas Amritrao Deshmukh, popularly known as the Nanaji Deshmukh established the first brand school, Saraswati Sishu Mandir at Gorakhpur in 1952. Later the brand was reorganized as Vidya Bharati and running one of the largest private school networks across India. Former president Pranab Mukharjee & "Sudhakantha" Bhupen Hazarika was also awarded 2019 Bharat Ratna by Govt of India.

BSNL has partnered with French company Be-Bound to offer data connectivity through SMS where there is no data connectivity or signal breaks. In this technology, where there is no data connectivity, the app of a mobile device will communicate with Be-Bound server through SMS (Circuit Switched) for data connection, and a user will feel it like the traditional data connection (Packet Switched).

Since the autonomous councils occupy more than one districts, the constitutional amendment to Article 280 of the Constitution to increase the financial and executive powers of the 10 autonomous councils of the sixth-schedule areas of North East region, has changed the name to Autonomous Territorial Council. The amendment also provides elected village municipal councils to ensure democracy at the grassroots-level.
